William T.G. Morton made history on October 16, 1846 in Massachusetts General Hospital’s surgical amphitheater, now known as the Ether Dome, when he demonstrated the first public surgery using anesthetic (ether). This guided tour provides a colorful glimpse at the work of Charles Bulfinch, America’s first full-time architect and the Bulfinch Building’s Place in Anesthesia History. Round-trip transportation from the Fairmont Copley Plaza and refreshments are included. We recommend that you bring a camera to take photographs. Guests/spouses are welcome to sign up and may be added during registration
